Syria conflict: Syrian women told no sex no aid

Women in Syria are being sexually exploited by third party aid workers who force them into having sex in return for receiving much needed basic humanitarian aid, basically telling them “no sex no aid”

This must be one of the most disgusting forms of sexual exploitation I have ever heard of. Women in Syria after crawling through the rubble of what once used to be their homes in “Eastern Ghouta” are being turned away by third party aid workers working on behalf of “UN and other international charities” if they do not offer “payment for the aid by offering sexual favours".

Alarmingly international aid agencies including the United Nations have been aware of this for at least 3 years but have not found any other way of getting the aid into the conflict area without utilizing 3rd party organisations.

One report commissioned by the “United Nations Population Fund” (UNFPA) entitled "Voices from Syria 2018" gives us details of gender based violence in the area, with examples of “women or girls marrying officials for a short period of time for “sexual services” in order to receive meals; distributors asking for telephone numbers of women and girls; giving them lifts home, spending the night with them before releasing the much needed aid.

Authors note: It is estimated there are at least 400,000 innocent people trapped in the “Eastern Ghouta” area alone.
